Kane Williamson: News

The legendary Martin Crowe considers him to be on track to become the greatest batsman to play for New Zealand. And, the rest of the world looks at him as one of the best in the game. But everyone is certain that Kane Williamson is destined for greatness. One of those few who has the ability to make batting against pace and spin look equally easy, Williamson made his first-class debut in 2007 at the age of 17. Touted as a special talent who loves making runs, he made his international debut in an ODI against India in 2010. On his Test debut in the same year, he scored a century and gave a peek into what was about to come. Williamson's calm head and grit, mixed with his enormous talent, made him the obvious choice for captaincy after Brendon McCullum called it quits in 2016. Williamson led the team to the final in the 2019 World Cup and was named the player of the tournament. He was named in the ICC Test Team of the Decade declared in 2020. In 2021, he led the Kiwis to the inaugural World Test Championship mace.
