Nigeria’s Super Falcons kicked off their preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a 2-1 win over Senegal in a friendly match played in Ikenne-Remo on Friday.
The reigning African champions dominated large portions of the encounter, creating the better chances and controlling possession against the Teranga Lionesses.
After a lively opening period, Nigeria took the lead in the 32nd minute when Asisat Oshoala converted a penalty awarded to the Falcons. The goal marked a successful return to national team action for the experienced striker, who was making her first appearance since the last WAFCON final.
