Nvidia Corp CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) yesterday said that his company has arranged to boost capacity in the second half of this year to next year to meet robust demand. Before boarding his private jet at the Songshan Airport in Taipei to wrap up a 14-day trip to Taiwan, Huang told reporters that Nvidia has already raised its capacity “by 2x for the second half” of this year.“Capacity is tight all over the supply chain and the reason for that is because the demand is so strong and we’re growing so fast,” Huang said.

The Nvidia GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip featuring SK Hynix’s HBM3E memory is displayed at the SK Hynix Inc booth at Computex Taipei on Tuesday.

Nvidia’s artificial intelligence (AI) computing Grace Blackwell platform is in commercial production, while mass production of the next-generation Vera Rubin platform is just starting, Huang said.“The second half of next year is going to be so much bigger than this year and so everybody must be prepared,” he added.

Huang arrived in Taipei on May 23 to meet with Nvidia’s suppliers in Taiwan, such as contract chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC, 台積電) and AI server maker Hon Hai Precision Industry Co (鴻海精密), while attending Nvidia GTC Taipei and Computex Taipei.Praising Taiwan, Huang said it plays a critical role in AI development for the new computer revolution.“I’m very grateful that everybody has supported our success and so when we create this new industry, it’s going to be trillions of dollars of computing that has to be produced,” he said.Huang flew to South Korea after departing from Taiwan, his second visit to the East Asian country in seven months. With demand so strong, memory capacity throughout the supply chain has been very tight, he said.“We have very important partners and excellent partners in [South] Korea,” Huang said.
