It comes months after the death of his partner, Sarah Fisher.‌A statement from his daughters, actresses Emily and Daisy Head, to the Press Association, said: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our extraordinary father, Anthony Head.‌“He passed away peacefully of complications due to pneumonia, surrounded by his family. It has been, and forever will be, an honour and a privilege to be his daughters, and to have witnessed firsthand the impact both he and his work have had on so many.‌“We know how dearly he will be missed by friends, colleagues, and fans of the shows he was in – he loved his job very much, and he always considered himself incredibly lucky, to have been able to work alongside such exceptionally talented people, in such wonderful productions, across a career that spanned several decades.“Our grief is far greater than the hole he has left behind, but we know his legacy will live on, in the shows he was a part of, and in the audiences that love them. How lucky we are to know we are able to watch him doing what he loved, even when he is no longer with us. We kindly ask that our privacy is respected at this difficult time.”‌The star's recent performances saw him play former Richmond FC owner Rupert Mannion, the ex-husband of Hannah Waddingham’s character Rebecca, in football comedy Ted Lasso. Other notable roles included being the Prime Minister in Little Britain and Uther Pendragon in Merlin, the father of Prince Arthur.He becomes the fourth Buffy cast member to have died since last year. In 2025, fans of the show mourned the deaths of Michelle Trachtenberg and Harris Yulin, while Nicholas Brendon died in March this year.Anthony's death also comes months after his partner died aged 61. Animal rights activist Sarah Fisher died in December last year "with very little warning" her daughters said in a heartbreaking statement at the time.‌Sarah, who lived with the Ted Lasso star and their actress daughters paid tribute to their "extraordinary" mum in the touching social media post. Emily and Daisy's joint words following the sad news read: "It is immensely shocking to us all, and came with very little warning."No words could ever express all that she encompassed, or begin to describe the crater her absence has left. We know how profoundly she has impacted the lives of so many, and we couldn't be more proud of the legacy she is leaving behind."They added: "We only wish she'd had more time to share her knowledge and brilliance with us, and the world. Our grief knows no bounds, nor did the reaches of her incredibly unique and irreplaceable spirit."Article continues belowAn inquest confirmed Sarah died from a rare and highly aggressive form of cancer, namely anaplastic thyroid cancer.
