Washington DC, June 5 (EFE).- The United States navy intercepted and boarded a tanker sanctioned and linked to Iran in the Indo-Pacific area, the US Department of War reported Friday, which maintains a naval blockade of the Islamic Republic’s coast.

“Overnight, U.S. forces carried out a maritime interdiction and right-of-visit boarding of the sanctioned stateless vessel MT DAVINA located in the Indian Ocean within the INDOPACOM area of responsibility,” the Department of War posted on social media platform X.

Along with the message, the military command published videos and photographs of the interception operation in which US troops can be seen boarding the ship.

“We will continue global maritime enforcement to disrupt illicit networks and interdict vessels providing material support to Iran, wherever they operate. International waters cannot be used as a shield by sanctioned actors,” the Department added.

“The Department of War will continue to deny illicit actors and their vessels freedom of maneuver in the maritime domain,” it further said.
