Video clips shared online appeared to show the president taking a nap as Energy Secretary Chris Wright addressed the room loudly.‌The footage emerged a day after Secretary of State Marco Rubio insisted he had "never seen [Trump] fall asleep". "On the contrary, the guy doesn't sleep, which is a big problem," he said.‌During a congressional hearing on Wednesday, Rep Ted Lieu, a Democrat from California, showed Rubio videos that appeared to show Trump sleeping during two Cabinet meetings and a Memorial Day ceremony. Rubio defended Trump's health and mental ability, and branded Lieu's questioning "absurd". Lieu in turn said: "Just keep lying, Secretary Rubio, just keep lying."Content cannot be displayed without consent‌Speaking after the latest video, Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari wrote on X: "Donald Trump fell asleep multiple times in the Oval Office today. AGAIN. That’s why I've called for the 25th Amendment, and dozens of my colleagues have done the same. Donald Trump is unwell and must be removed from office. It’s a national security crisis."It comes after a year of speculation over Trump's health, fuelled by images in July 2025 showing swollen ankles and a bruised hand concealed with makeup, as well as more recent photographs showing a blotchy neck rash.Trump said in late May that his six-month health check-up at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center showed "everything checked out PERFECTLY".‌The White House took longer than usual to publish the results of his third official check-up since returning to office. In a memo released last Friday, US Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, Trump's doctor, said the president "remains in excellent health" and has "strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function".However, several high-profile doctors expressed scepticism about the findings and criticised what they describe as omissions in the report.Article continues below"That report is almost too good to be true for somebody of his age," Texas vascular surgeon William Shutze told The Wall Street Journal. "This seems to be a filtered narrative."Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.‌United StatesDonald Trump
