President of Real Madrid Florentino Pérez has vowed to sanction the biggest transfer fee in Real Madrid’s history if he is re-elected as club president on Sunday, hinting at a major summer signing as part of a renewed “Galácticos” vision.

According to BBC Sport on Friday, speaking ahead of the vote, Pérez said the club is preparing an ambitious move for a top-level player from a major European side.

“On Tuesday or so, I’m going to make an offer to a major Champions League club for a great player. It would be the largest transfer fee Real Madrid has ever paid in its history,” he said.

Pérez added that the planned target is an attacking player, though he declined to reveal the identity.
