Three passengers of a car were killed when their vehicle lost control and rammed into the back of a lorry parked by National Highway-66 at Kohinoor near Calicut University around midnight on Thursday (June 4). The victims were identified as Shaheed, wife Shahana, and their relative Jahana from Kecheri near Thrissur.They were returning to Thrissur after visiting Kozhikode beach when the accident took place. Shaheed was vacationing with the family after he returned from the Gulf a few days ago.Their Innova car reportedly skidded off the rain-soaked road and crashed into the back of the lorry. Residents had to struggle for about half an hour to extricate the victims trapped in the mangled car.Residents said accidents were on the increase at Kohinoor due to unscientific parking of lorries on NH-66.
