Unless you head towards this cafe with a purpose, there are chances you will miss this charming little nook on the road. Nestled within one of old Bengaluru’s residential tree-lined streets, Purpose draws you in to sit awhile and enjoy quality time whether it is for a meal or during your coffee break.There is an all-day breakfast menu apart from a regular one so you do not feel short changed whenever you drop in. At the table next to ours, a group of college goers enjoy a game of Jenga; they have helped themselves from the shelf stocked with board games and books, and lend a youthful air to the vibrant ssurroundings.According to founder Ananya Rao, the inspiration behind the menu at Purpose and its casual interiors spring from her time spent in New York and Milan. “Though the menu is Asian-themed, there is a bit of fusion in it as well.” The cafe “is a passion project” for the fashion undergrad who says “when I stumbled across this space, I could visualise what I wanted it to be”.The entire menu centres on Asian fusion small plates and Asian street food, so one can enjoy a plate of chicken gyozas, a Thai bean salad or Shokupan toasts (made from sweet Japanese milk bread) any time of day.Sandos and croissants stuffed with chicken katsu or avocado fritters are not to be missed here, says Ananya. “Our idea was to be a cafe that served fresh food, made in-house and not just baked goods from behind a counter.”
