Train barriers near the Wellington stadium have come down, blocking the road.
A fault has caused a set of train barriers on Aotea Quay in Wellington to come down, blocking the road.
Traffic was heavy outside the Hnry Stadium as a result.
“An unknown issue has caused the barriers to come down and efforts to put the barriers up have been unsuccessful,” police said in a statement about 8.30pm Friday.
“Motorists should avoid the area as the blockage is cleared.”
The incident could see traffic delays as fans leave the stadium following the Hurricanes win against the Brumbies.

Drivers are being warned to expect delays and avoid affected routes.
A nationwide signal outage halted trains on Monday morning.
Emergency services are working at the scene as motorists are warned to avoid the area or expect delays.
A utility vehicle towing a caravan has rolled on State Highway 1 near Wellington, completely closing the northbound lanes.
No injuries were reported from the crash, which happened about 11.30am.
