June 5 (UPI) -- Masters of the Universe, a new live-action film adaptation of the Mattel franchise, opens in theaters Friday.

The movie is directed by Travis Knight (Bumblebee) and stars Nicholas Galitzine (Red, White & Royal Blue) as Adam Glenn, aka He-Man, a prince trying to defend Castle Grayskull and the planet of Eternia from the evil Skeletor (Jared Leto).

Also starring Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Idris Elba as Duncan, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Malcolm and Kristen Wiig as the voice of Roboto, Masters of the Universe is the latest project to adapt the franchise for the screen.
