Roberto Losada has been appointed Hong Kong manager, fending off challenges from more than 300 rivals to replace former boss Ashley Westwood.In interim charge for the past six months, the Spain-born Losada began his temporary reign with a series of exhibition matches, in the Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup, then Lunar New Year Cup.Losada’s first competitive game was a 2-1 Asian Cup qualifying defeat by India in March.He will launch his permanent tenure with a Hong Kong Stadium friendly against Mongolia on Friday night, before the city team play Cambodia in Phnom Penh next Tuesday.No details over the length of Losada’s contract were disclosed during a press conference staged at Hong Kong Football Club on Friday.The Football Association of Hong Kong, China also confirmed the city will stage Division 2 of this year’s inaugural Fifa Asean Cup in September and October, a tournament that will clash with the Asian Games in Japan.
