With Adhik Maas adding to its spiritual significance this year, devotees are expected to mark the occasion with special devotion on June 8.Adhik Maas Krishna Janmashtami Kathaहिंदू धर्म में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण को भगवान विष्णु का आठवां अवतार माना जाता है। द्वापर युग में जब पृथ्वी पर अत्याचार बढ़ गए और कंस का आतंक चरम पर पहुंच गया, तब भगवान विष्णु ने श्रीकृष्ण के रूप में अवतार लेने का संकल्प किया। मथुरा के राजा उग्रसेन के पुत्र कंस ने अपनी बहन देवकी और उनके पति वसुदेव को कारागार में बंद कर दिया था। आकाशवाणी हुई थी कि देवकी की आठवीं संतान ही कंस का वध करेगी। भयभीत कंस ने देवकी की पहली सात संतानों को मार डाला। समय आने पर भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष की अष्टमी तिथि की मध्यरात्रि में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण का जन्म कारागार में हुआ। उनके जन्म लेते ही कारागार के बंधन खुल गए, पहरेदार गहरी नींद में सो गए और जेल के द्वार स्वयं खुल गए। तब वसुदेव नवजात कृष्ण को टोकरी में रखकर यमुना नदी पार करते हुए गोकुल पहुंचे। वहां उन्होंने कृष्ण को नंद बाबा और माता यशोदा के घर जन्मी कन्या के साथ बदल दिया। कृष्ण बाल्यकाल से ही अपनी दिव्य लीलाओं के कारण प्रसिद्ध हुए। उन्होंने पूतना, तृणावर्त, बकासुर और अघासुर जैसे राक्षसों का संहार किया। आगे चलकर मथुरा पहुंचकर कंस का वध किया और धर्म की स्थापना की।
