An Indian expat was allegedly killed in the UAE’s Sharjah in broad daylight over a social media spat. According to reports, the man identified as Ismail Ponnan Ibrahim Kutty was in a social media dispute that escalated.The man was allegedly stabbed by a group of individuals on Sunday. During a live stream on TikTok, he engaged in a verbal war with other users.Also Read: 8 of family visiting Gurugram man in hospital die in Delhi's Hauz Rani fireThe social media argument, however, spilt into a face-to-face confrontation in which a group of suspects attacked, stabbed and killed Kutty.What happened?On Sunday morning, some onlookers reported an altercation between Kutty and a group of individuals. Soon after, he was rushed to Al Qassimi Hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.Salam Papinassery, the CEO of the Sharjah-based law firm YAB Legal, told Khaleej Times that they are in the process of repatriating Kutty’s body to India. The deceased is survived by his wife and son.Also Read: Indian charged in death of pregnant teen partner may face deportation from US“His brother and some other relatives are also in the UAE,” Papinassery told Khaleej Times. “We are now trying to get the documentation processed for his body to be repatriated as quickly as possible. Since the matter is under investigation, we are not sure how long this will take.”Police told local media that multiple suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.
