A 49-year-old assistant professor from Delhi University was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her residence in Delhi on Thursday afternoon, police said. Devosmita Paul, the deceased, taught at Shivaji College and was living alone in her Vasundhara Enclave apartment in the east side of the state, PTI reported.Police received a call from a woman who informed them that her sister had been killed and was lying inside the flat. Concerned, she went to the apartment, which was locked from the outside, PTI reported.After breaking open the lock, she entered the flat and discovered her sister’s body inside. She quickly called the cops.Police said teams were immediately dispatched to the scene. A forensic unit and crime investigation team examined the premises, collected evidence, and documented the scene. They took photos and videos.Cause of death not determined yetThe body has been sent to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for post-mortem examination. Her husband, the main accused, remained absconding for nearly 15 days.She was allegedly strangled with an electric press wire on May 1, after which the accused fled. Her family also alleged involvement of other relatives.
