The aggrieved aspirant described the development as an electoral injustice and a threat to the integrity of the APC's internal democratic process.
An aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for Agege Constituency 01 in Lagos State, Alhaji Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, has accused the party leadership in the state of overturning his victory and imposing another candidate despite what he described as a clear electoral mandate from party members.
Addressing journalists on Thursday, Egunjobi alleged that he won the primary election by a wide margin and was officially declared winner by electoral officials before the party leadership announced another candidate as the party's flagbearer.
The aggrieved aspirant described the development as an electoral injustice and a threat to the integrity of the APC's internal democratic process.
"However, I stand before you with a heavy heart to express my profound disappointment over the manner the leadership of the party in the state robbed me of my victory and announced Gbenga Michael Abiola as the party's candidate through the back door," Egunjobi said.
