Starz has greenlit the “Power” sequel “Power: Legacy,” Variety has confirmed.

The series will follow the reunion of Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) and Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.), the son of Tommy’s late friend James “Ghost” St. Patrick. Starz has picked up eight episodes for the first season.

Both actors previously led their own entries in the “Power” universe — Sikora starred in “Power Book IV: Force” for three seasons, while Rainey starred in “Power Book II: Ghost” for four. The characters went their separate ways at the conclusion of the mothership series, but reunited in the “Force” finale. In “Legacy,” Tommy returns to New York and partners with Tariq.

“Power never dies, and this chapter is our biggest yet,” said executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. “Fans have been waiting to see Tariq and Tommy together, and now they’re taking over New York City. Bringing Joseph and Michael back together is special, they’ve turned these characters into true icons of the ‘Power’ universe.”

“Power” vet Gary Lennon serves as showrunner and executive producer on “Legacy,” which is based on a pilot script Lennon co-wrote with Kendra Chapman Davis. “Power” creator Courtney A. Kemp is also an executive producer via End of Episode along with Jackson via G-Unit FIlm and Television. Mark Canton of Canton Entertainment executive produces, as does Davis, Sikora, and Chris Selak. Rainey is a producer.
