Introduction
Performance is often discussed in terms of Lighthouse scores and Core Web Vitals, but for many users in emerging markets, performance is much more than a technical metric.
In Nigeria, a significant percentage of users access financial applications using mid-range Android devices and unstable mobile networks. Every additional second spent waiting for a dashboard to load can impact trust, engagement, and transaction completion.
While working on a fintech platform, I was tasked with improving the performance of one of our most frequently used customer-facing interfaces. The goal was simple: reduce loading time without sacrificing functionality.
After a series of frontend optimizations, we achieved approximately a 30% reduction in page load time and significantly improved the user experience for customers on slower connections.
