Delivering quality homes on steep Queenstown sites takes more than good design. It requires careful planning, coordination and a team that understands how to work in challenging alpine conditions.
In May, six architecturally designed homes were transported from Christchurch to Queenstown in a major overnight operation at 62 and 66 Middleton Road, above Lake Wakatipu. The move forms part of a wider development programme led by Queenstown-based developer James Clarke Property, focused on delivering thoughtfully designed homes that respond to Queenstown’s unique landscape and growing housing demand.
Overnight move from Christchurch
Moved under cover of darkness, the homes travelled south over a series of carefully coordinated night runs before being lifted into position on the elevated Middleton Road site. Road closures, crane operations and heavy transport movements were scheduled overnight to minimise disruption for residents and local traffic.
James Clarke says the operation highlights just how much work happens behind the scenes before homeowners ever step through the front door.
