Lieutenant Fisher, 31, Lieutenant Commander Chris Gayson, 42, and Petty Officer Owen Green, 24, were killed when their Merlin Mk4 helicopter crashed during a training exercise near Okehampton early on Wednesday morning. Defence Secretary John Healey paid tribute to the victims, describing them as "dedicated and highly valued members" of their squadrons. Lieutenant Fisher, a talented sportswoman and Imperial College London graduate, became Britain's only serving female Royal Navy commando after successfully completing the rigorous 16-week All Arms Commando Course. She had a distinguished career, including working as an exploration geologist, representing Great Britain in triathlon, serving as a watch keeper during the Channel migrant crisis, and frequently spoke about her commitment to challenging herself and her belief in women's capabilities in the military.
