Just in time for the FIFA World Cup, the maximum penalty for reselling sports, concert and other event tickets above their original purchase price is rising to $25,000 in Ontario.
It’s an increase from $10,000 and follows through on changes Premier Doug Ford signalled in March when he took aim at ticket scalpers seven years after removing a cap on resale prices his government deemed “unforceable” at the time.
