The research, which surveyed over 1,500 American adults, found that individuals who slept with their pets, reported poorer sleep quality and more insomnia symptoms than those who did not.Specifically, evidence was found for a negative effect on sleep when co-sleeping with dogs, but not for cats.While some report that sleeping with their pet is comforting, it’s important for those co-sleeping to be aware that pets could cause nighttime noise, heat or movement, which may disrupt sleep.
