K.M. Subramanian, president of Tiruppur Exporters Association, has been appointed to the Board of Trade by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade. As many as 40 members, including Mr. Subramanian, have been nominated to the Board from different backgrounds. The Board plays a key role in advising the Union government on matters related to trade development and export promotion.SIMA welcomes CEPA with OmanThe Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between India and Oman that came into effect on June 1 will give India’s textile products tariff advantage of 5% and provide a level playing field with competing countries including Bangladesh and Turkey and boost the exports of readymade garments and home textiles.Durai Palanisamy, chairman of the Southern India Mills Association, said in a press release that Oman is the second largest trading partner in the Gulf region and the CEPA gives zero-duty access for 99.38 % of India’s exports, including products of textile industry. This will benefit the textile clusters of Tiruppur, Coimbatore and Karur. India’s total textile exports to Oman stood at $ 94 million in 2025-2026 as against the total Oman’s total textile import of $ 598 million accounting around 16 % and ranking as the third-largest supplier.AEPC delegation meets TN Revenue MinisterA. Sengottaiyan, recently and briefed them on the current scenario of the apparel export industry. The delegation highlighted the key challenges being faced by the sector in the State and discussed various measures required to strengthen the growth and competitiveness of the industry, attract investments, generate employment, and strengthen Tamil Nadu’s position as a leading apparel manufacturing and export hub.Ambulance donatedThe TMB Foundation has partnered with Karunya Hospital, Coimbatore, to improve kidney care services for the underserved communities in and around Karunya Nagar and the Siruvani tribal hills.Patients in these areas who are in need of dialysis travel almost 90 minutes facing physical, financial and emotional strain. So, the TMB Foundation donated two advanced dialysis machines and a fully equipped ambulance to support the healthcare services provided by Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences.
