The Gardiner Expressway and Don Valley Parkway will officially be the hands of the province in fall 2027, Premier Doug Ford announced Thursday.

In keeping with the ”new deal” struck between Toronto and the province in November 2023, the city is uploading operations of the beleaguered elevated highway to the Ontario government, eliminating one of the city’s largest repair liabilities. In return, the city dropped its fight against the Doug Ford government over the Ontario Place renovations and the relocation of the Science Centre.
