One of the most unique features of this video doorbell is its 1:1 square aspect ratio. Most smart doorbells are designed with a wide rectangular viewing frame that leaves out the space just below the door. Because of the Arlo’s square field of view, you can capture your visitors’ faces and any items on the floor at their feet in a single frame. This video also records an entire 180-degree field of view, so it’s tough for anyone to quickly sidestep out of the frame.
You can run the doorbell on the built-in rechargeable battery, or hardwire it to your existing doorbell wiring for continuous trickle charging. The battery lasts about three to six months between charges depending on usage, and the included USB-C cable makes it easy to top off without uninstalling the unit. The included mounting hardware makes setup straightforward at most doorways.
