The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education (FUE), Zaria, Suleiman Balarabe, recently joined the Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Sa’idu Ahmad, and heads of beneficiary teacher-training institutions at the official handover ceremony of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment and instructional materials under a Japanese Government-supported education project.
A statement signed by the Vice-Chancellor’s media aide, Sani Lawal Maqarphy, said the ceremony took place at the Federal Ministry of Education Headquarters in Abuja.
The event was organised by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (UNESCO-IICBA), the African Union International Centre for Girls and Women’s Education in Africa (AU/CIEFFA), and the Government of Japan.
The project, titled ‘Capacity-Building of Teachers to Promote Continuous and Inclusive Access to Safe and Quality Education for Girls in West Africa,’ is designed to strengthen teacher education through the provision of ICT equipment and learning materials to selected federal and state colleges of education across Nigeria.
