In a statement issued by the institution, and signed by the Acting Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations, Mr Olaniyi S. Jeariogbe, the university described the development as devastating, saying it received “with profound sadness the news of the death of one of its students.”

The Lagos State University (LASU) has announced the death of one of its students, Otabor Boluwatife Joseph (Matric No. 240341269), of the Department of History and International Studies, following injuries sustained during an armed robbery attack in the Iba area of Lagos State.

In a statement issued by the institution, and signed by the Acting Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations, Mr Olaniyi S. Jeariogbe, the university described the development as devastating, saying it received “with profound sadness the news of the death of one of its students.”

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, in the statement, extended condolences to the bereaved family and the university community.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn this tragic loss,” the statement said.
