North Korea has revealed a new facility for producing weapons-grade uranium, marking another step in its ongoing expansion of nuclear capabilities, state media KCNA reported on Thursday.

Leader Kim Jong Un visited the site and called for a significant acceleration of the country’s nuclear weapons program, pledging to strengthen its nuclear forces “at an exponential rate,” according to the report.

KCNA said the facility is equipped with “more sophisticated technology,” though it provided no additional details on its location or operational timeline. The report did not clarify how long the plant has been active.

The state news agency also released images appearing to show a centrifuge hall, suggesting the facility is used for uranium enrichment aimed at nuclear weapons production.

During his visit, Kim reportedly said that production capacity for weapons-grade uranium has more than doubled over the past five years. He also stressed what he described as increasing urgency in strengthening nuclear deterrence due to tensions with “the most ferocious enemies,” a reference widely interpreted as the United States and South Korea.
