Texas Governor Greg Abbott appointed five members to the Quantum Initiative Advisory Committee, which is tasked with developing a strategic plan to promote the state’s quantum economy.
The new appointees bring expertise from academia, industry, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, defense, and economic development, including leaders from Texas Tech University, NVIDIA, UT San Antonio, and the Texas Research Alliance.
The appointments establish staggered terms through 2027, 2029, and 2031 to support the committee’s long-term planning and implementation efforts.
PRESS RELEASE — Governor Greg Abbott appointed Victor Fishman, Ph.D. and Lin Zhou, Ph.D. to the Quantum Initiative Advisory Committee for terms set to expire on January 31, 2027. Governor Abbott also appointed Richard “Ross” Coffman for a term set to expire on January 31, 2029, and appointed John Josephakis and Jeff Prevost, Ph.D. for terms set to expire on January 31, 2031. The Initiative will develop a strategic plan for the promotion of the quantum economy in this state.
