The Ogun State Police Command has announced the arrest of suspect identified as Johnson Elleh over the production and circulation of a viral video “falsely” alleging kidnapping and banditry activities along the Owode-Idiroko axis of the state.
According to the police, the arrest followed an investigation launched after the video gained traction on social media and sparked concerns among residents.
In a statement issued on Thursday, June 4, 2026, by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Command said it immediately subjected the contents of the video to scrutiny and commenced a swift investigation to verify the claims.
In the video, the suspect said, “Yeah, Nigerians, please, this is an alert that I got this morning. Please, those of us that is Owode-Idiroko, please, if you are getting this video, begin to share it.
