The Chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government Area of Osun State, Asimiyu Ajibola, popularly known as Baba Isila, is battling for his life after suspected gunmen opened fire on him and his associates in a late-night attack in Osogbo.
The attack, which occurred at about 9:50 p.m. on Wednesday around the Community Bank axis of the MDS area in Osogbo, threw residents into panic as heavily armed assailants reportedly fired several shots at Ajibola's vehicle.
SaharaReporters gathered that the gunmen repeatedly shot at a blue Toyota Corolla carrying Ajibola and his friends, riddling the vehicle with bullets in what witnesses described as a coordinated operation.
The Accord Party chieftain was said to have sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the University of Osun Teaching Hospital (UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital), Osogbo, where he remains on the danger list and is receiving treatment.
