Parliament’s Science, Innovation and Technology Committee has recommended the NHS break a £330 million contract with Palantir, citing the risk of the UK becoming too dependent on the US tech firm.
The committee’s report also advised the government to disclose more details of a military contract with Palantir, which has close ties with the US military.
Separately, the UK’s independent national data guardian, Nicola Byrne, urged NHS officials to explain why they did not disclose that staff from Palantir and other external companies would have “unlimited” access to identifiable patient information, adding to concerns around the company.
