A Ukrainian strike killed at least three people in Crimea, the region's Moscow-installed authorities said on June 3, a day after Kiev targeted energy and military sites in Saint Petersburg where Russia was hosting an economic forum.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned of a "real" risk of the Ukraine war escalating as Kiev underlines its ability to strike deep inside Russian territory with the attacks.

Ukraine has described its strikes on Saint Petersburg as "fair" retaliation for a wave of Russian bombardment on its territory.
