ITV bosses are said to be facing a 'civil war' backstage over Nadia Sawalha's return to Loose Women after controversial YouTube videos and claims of a double standard07:52, 04 Jun 2026ITV bosses are reportedly facing a 'civil war' behind the scenes on Loose Women as they prepare to bring back Nadia Sawalha. Sawalha has been away from the panel show in recent weeks following controversy surrounding her YouTube channel with husband Mark Adderley.‌The 61-year-old was last seen on Loose Women in April, despite her long history with the show. Having made her first appearance in 1999, she was on the programme until 2002 and then returned in 2013 and has been a fixture throughout the 13 years since.‌Sources now say she is due to return, but that this isn't entirely welcome behind the scenes. A 15-page dossier of letters demanding Sawalha's return be halted has reportedly been sent to higher-ups.‌Speaking to the Sun, a source said: “There is so much bad blood. Nadia has many defenders on the show but others have made it crystal clear they will flat-out refuse to work with her."They claimed that she is thought to be a "loose cannon" and that some are worried their own reputations will be tarnished. They continued to say the cast felt there was a double standard when it came to how Sawalha had been treated: "Other stars have been hung out to dry or quietly iced out over relatively small misdemeanours, yet execs seem determined to defend Nadia."‌According to the insider, ITV's "protective" attitude to Sawalha has caused "bitterness" backstage and left some feeling it was "one rule for Nadia and another for the rest". The Sun also reported that another source told them that ITV bosses are "in a total panic" over the dossier they received.Sawalha has denied that she was suspended from Loose Women, telling fans: “I have not been suspended from Loose Women, but thank you for your lovely messages.”‌But, her currently ongoing absence from the panel was reported to be connected to videos shared on her YouTube channel Coffee Moaning, which she shares with her husband. Adderley was suspended by the Green Party ahead of local elections over allegations that he shared posts comparing Israel to Nazi Germany.Sawalha, who has been campaigning for the Green Party alongside her husband, accused “dark forces” of smearing Adderley. She said in a video on YouTube: "We've been punished all along right from when we first started talking about Palestine. The dark forces behind everything that you see is quite extraordinary, I have to tell you."Addressing his suspension in a statement, Adderley said: “I genuinely thought the Green Party was supposed to be different, and was promising a beacon of hope in the dark, ugly world of British party politics.‌"Instead, they have fallen at what feels like the first hurdle in Labour’s attempts to recreate the Corbyn antisemitism psychodrama of some years ago.“If we are to change politics for the good, we must do things differently. We must not be unafraid to say what establishment politics has disallowed: that Zionism is racism, that opposing a fascistic, apartheid state is not racism, it is not antisemitic, it is not conflating all Jewish people with the Netanyahu regime - and that standing with the oppressed should never be something to suspend someone for.”The Mirror contacted ITV and Sawalha's representatives for comment.Article continues belowLike this story?
