The High Court has revived a woman's lawsuit against a Nairobi fertility clinic over claims it used a sperm donor who did not match her specifications, thrusting Kenya's reproductive health and fertility industry into the spotlight.

In reinstating the case, the court said existing laws are ill-equipped to handle disputes arising from assisted reproductive treatment. The judge urged Parliament to expedite legislation governing fertility clinics, donor screening and patient rights.
