Pilots are often heard sharing routine flight updates with passengers, but one captain's announcement has captured hearts online for a far more personal reason. In the now-viral video, Anderson introduces Turner as his "co-captain" and explains why sharing the cockpit with him on that particular flight meant so much.Childhood friends who chased the same dream"I call him my co-captain because he is just as experienced as I am. And I know this because I've known him since I was 11 years old," Anderson told passengers. The captain went on to share how he and Turner grew up together in Kingston, Jamaica, attended the same high school and later moved to the United States for college. While Anderson initially studied medicine and Turner pursued accounting, both eventually realised those careers were not for them. "We both decided this is not for us," Anderson recalled. "We decided we're going to fly and become pilots together."The friends then moved to Melbourne, Florida, to attend flight school. Their friendship extended beyond the classroom, with Anderson joking that he repeatedly helped Turner find jobs. "Five days after we got there, I got a job at Circuit City selling TVs. When I finished the interview, I asked, 'Do you need somebody else?' and got him a job too," he said, adding that he later did the same at a call centre.Although their professional journeys eventually took different paths, their ultimate goal remained the same. Anderson joined Copa Airlines, while Turner went on to work for Virgin and Alaska Airlines. Yet both continued to dream of one day flying for American Airlines.
