Snowflake used its annual Summit conference Tuesday (Jun 2, 2026) to roll out a sweeping set of product updates, placing a concentrated wager on what it calls the “agentic enterprise”, a vision where software doesn’t just answer questions but independently carries out complex business tasks. The cloud data company rebranded two of its flagship products and expanded their reach considerably. Cortex Code is now Snowflake CoCo, an AI coding agent that works inside Slack, Microsoft Excel, VS Code, and Anthropic’s Claude Code platform, among others. Snowflake Intelligence has been rechristened CoWork, a tool aimed at knowledge workers that the company says can now anticipate needs rather than simply respond to them. The moves come as Snowflake faces intensifying competition from Databricks, Microsoft, and a growing roster of AI-native startups, all racing to position themselves as the connective tissue of the modern enterprise.“The future of enterprise AI will be defined by how well organisations connect intelligence, trusted data, and action across the business,” Vijayant Rai, Snowflake’s managing director for India said in a statement.Beyond the rebranding, Snowflake introduced Datastream, a managed streaming service built around Apache Kafka that feeds continuously updated data to AI applications running inside its platform. The company also announced Cortex Training, infrastructure that lets customers customize and fine-tune large language models directly within Snowflake’s environment — a capability that keeps sensitive corporate data from leaving the platform during model training. On governance, Snowflake updated its Horizon Catalog with features designed to give every user, developer, and AI agent operating inside a company’s data infrastructure a shared, consistent view of business context. New security tools, including something the company calls Agent Identity, are intended to make it easier for IT and compliance teams to track what autonomous systems are actually doing once they’re deployed at scale.Interoperability got attention too. Snowflake added support for Apache Iceberg v3, a widely used open table format, and introduced what it calls Automatic Data Agents — a feature that can convert shared datasets into conversational AI interfaces with governance controls baked in. The pitch is that companies can grant access to data across different clouds and computing engines without physically moving or copying it.The company, which went public in 2020 in one of the largest software IPOs on record, has spent recent years pivoting its story from data storage and analytics toward artificial intelligence workloads, a shift that has put it in more direct competition with the largest technology companies in the world.
