Less than 10 days before the World Cup kicks off, FIFA now says fans will no longer be allowed to bring their own water bottles into games in a last-minute adjustment to its stadium policy.

Just months ago, FIFA’s official Stadium Code of Conduct had an exception that allowed fans to bring personal water bottles into stadiums across North America. A January version of the code included the clause: “For the avoidance of doubt, empty, transparent, reusable plastic bottles, up to one litre, may be brought into the Stadium.”
