Upon arriving at Vidhana Soudha after taking oath as Chief Minister, D.K. Shivakumar bowed at the steps of the stone building that houses the State Secretariat before entering it.In an act reminiscent of Prime Minister Narendra Modi bowing before entering the Parliament, Mr. Shivakumar touched his forehead to the steps at the northern entrance of Vidhana Soudha.After entering the Chief Minister’s office on the third floor of the Vidhana Soudha, he bowed to the Chief Minister’s chair amid Vedic chants of priests, before sitting on it. He then signed the file assuming charge and later chaired his government’s first Cabinet meeting.Earlier, as soon as he entered the Vidhana Soudha premises, he offered floral tributes to the statues of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Jagajyoti Basavanna, Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, the country’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, and Mahatma Gandhi.
