Two ballot boxes remained stranded overnight at a polling station in Songpa District, southern Seoul, where a ballot shortage occurred, with protesters blocking their transfer to a vote-counting center.
As of 8 a.m. on Thursday, the day after the June 3 local elections, the ballot boxes remain at Polling Station No. 2 in Jamsil 7-dong. The National Election Commission (NEC) estimates that around 2,000 ballots are in the two boxes.

The election commission said it would refrain from attempting to forcibly remove the ballot boxes because of concerns about physical confrontations with protesters gathered at the site. However, it also stated it had not abandoned plans to transport the ballot boxes, as doing so remains essential to completing the vote count.
