Japanese importers are interested in small Thai durians, while premium agricultural products secured orders totalling more than 334 million baht at Thaifex-Anuga Asia 2026.Wittayakorn Maneenetr, director-general of the Department of Internal Trade (DIT), said the event may create new business opportunities in the Japanese market as importers expressed interest in small durians weighing up to 1.5 kilogrammes each.

"These durians are suitable for small households and meet the demand of Japanese consumers," he said.

Japanese importers had discussions with the DIT to find packaging providers and exporters capable of producing peeled durian in small packages for the Japanese market.

Meanwhile, a premium fruit and rice pavilion at the event received a positive response from both domestic and international buyers, resulting in 335 million baht in orders during the show.
