Chennai Metrowater must ensure transparency in all tender procedures undertaken, Additional Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, Gagandeep Singh Bedi, instructed officials during a review meeting held here on Wednesday.Reviewing the progress of the water agency’s ongoing works, Mr. Bedi directed the officials to ensure that water supply reached the tail-end areas and unserved streets.Currently, Chennai is being supplied with nearly 1,250 million litres of water a day through various sources, including reservoirs and desalination plants. Officials must review water supply from 143 distribution stations across the city.Adequate safety measures, including the installation of announcement boards and barricades, must be implemented during water supply and sewerage projects. Besides desilting the sewer network periodically, damaged machine holes (manholes) must be replaced immediately, he said.He also directed officials to submit reports about residents’ complaints after field visits, a press release said.Mr. Bedi also visited the 24-hour monitoring and control centre at Metrowater headquarters and the GIS Management Centre. Officials were urged to take appropriate action based on the information and complaints received from the centre.Chennai Metrowater Managing Director T.
