South African deputy president Paul Mashatile met Indian President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi

South African deputy president Paul Mashatile met Indian President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi this week, where the two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral ties between India and South Africa.

During the meeting, Murmu highlighted the steady growth in bilateral trade and emphasised the need to expand cooperation in key sectors, including technology, pharmaceuticals, energy, skilling, and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Mashatile had earlier held talks with Indian vice president CP Radhakrishnan in New Delhi, focusing on strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, defence, skills development, and people-to-people exchanges.

"The two leaders held productive discussions on further strengthening the India–South Africa bilateral relations, with a focus on trade, investment, defence cooperation, skills development, and enhancing people-to-people ties. They also exchanged views on advancing the priorities of the Global South and enhancing cooperation in multilateral forums," Radhakrishnan's office stated in a post on X after the meeting.
