Actress Anushka Sharma has counted fresh controversy after she shared a video on her positive experiences with alternative medicine on Instagram. This triggered a heated reaction on validity of alternative medicine like homeopathy from renowned hepatologist Cyriac Abby Philips.Taking to Instagram, the ‘Rab Ne Banayi Jodi’ star shared a video featuring a chat between homeopathist Rajan Sankaran and entrepreneur Namita Thapar, and noted how adhering to homeopathy changed her life for good. “Homeopathy played an important role in my life and Dr Rajan Sankaran has been a key part of that journey. I deeply value his insights on health and mindful living..” she wrote. In the video, Sankaran argued that allopathy and homeopathy can be integrated to provide a multitude of options to people. Because modern medicine does not have long-term solutions, multiple solutions for multiple sclerosis, allergies eczema, so these are all illnesses for which I would say even modern medical doctors refer their patients for homeopathy. We are living in an era of integrated medicine. We are not here to prove the superiority or inferiority. It's not either or anymore . We need to know the strengths and limitations of each system," he said.— theliverdoc (@theliverdoc) The actor’s post also received backing from homeopathic practitioner Bhumika, who used the opportunity to speak about the online criticism she has faced for her profession. She revealed that she was often mocked and trolled by naysayers as she was a homeopathic doctor. She maintained that a large number of patients still choose homeopathic treatment because they have confidence in its effectiveness and the results they have personally experienced. She further expressed the view that many critics may eventually turn to homeopathic care when seeking treatment. Her view was later heavily criticised by Dr Philips aka The Liver Doc on X. He described homeopathy as a fraud and accused practitioners of lying to patients. He called Anushka, Bhumika and Sankaran as “Supplement Seller - Legalized Quack - Illiterate Celeb,” on Instagram. He also called homeopathy witchcraft. The doctor, who is known to be a well-known critic of alternative medicines, claimed that homeopathic medicines are nothing more than overpriced sugar pills
