SCR general manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava on Wednesday commissioned two new section control boards at the Secunderabad divisional control office, increasing the total number to eight. The addition follows the expansion of the division’s jurisdiction with the inclusion of the Wadi-Raichur section (from Guntakal) and the Pagidipalli-Vishnupuram-Janpahad section (from Guntur) after the formation of the new South Coast Railway (ScoR).Simultaneously, the Motumari-Kondapalli section of the Secunderabad division has been merged with the Vijayawada division. The new control boards are expected to enhance the monitoring of passenger, express and freight train movements in the newly integrated sections, ensuring seamless train operations, he said during his inspection.He reviewed the operational arrangements put in place for monitoring train movements in the added sections and assessed the preparedness to handle the expanded jurisdiction effectively. He emphasised the need for close coordination and continuous monitoring to ensure safe, efficient and punctual train operations across the network. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) R. Gopalakrishnan and other officials were present, said a press release.Railway Union seeks flexible staff optionsMeanwhile, South Central Railway Employees Sangh, South Coast Railway Employees Sangh and the National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR) have urged the general managers concerned to ensure all employees willing to move are relieved promptly to join the new zone while allowing those in SCR, who wish to remain there, to continue.In a press release, NFIR general secretary M. Raghaviah also called for similar options to be extended to employees who wish to work in Visakhapatnam, particularly those of Telugu origin, in light of the formation of the new Rayagada division under East Coast Railway. Gazetted officers should be allowed to remain in their respective zones for the time being.Vacancies in SCoR may instead be filled by officers who have requested transfers to the new zone. He emphasised that, for at least one year, decisions regarding staff allocation should be taken jointly by the general managers concerned, in consultation with the unions, to ensure a smooth and orderly transition.
