Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao expressed confidence that the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) would win more than 90 seats if elections were held today, and challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to seek fresh public approval if he was confident of his government’s performance.Mr Rama Rao said Telangana people would hold the Congress government accountable for its unfulfilled promises and the ‘disastrous’ governance that has cost Telangana’s growth prospects.Speaking at the ‘Meet the Press’ programme organised by Press Club Hyderabad, he alleged that the Congress administration has pushed Telangana into decline after a decade of rapid progress under former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.The former Minister termed Congress as ‘the first enemy of Telangana’, claiming that it has undermined the remarkable progress achieved under Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership in agriculture, irrigation, drinking water, education, healthcare, welfare, and industrial growth. “It is now suffering from ‘policy paralysis.’ The lack of coordination in the Cabinet is reflected in the different figures claimed by the Ministers on paddy procurement,” he said.He claimed that the recent RBI data exposed Congress’s allegations regarding the previous government’s debt. The CAG report, apart from the RBI reports and the Central government’s figures placed in the Parliament, reflected the falsehood of the Congress.Mr. Rama Rao alleged that CM Revanth Reddy is determined to fix meters for agriculture pump sets to satisfy his ‘friend PM Modi’ and the Rythu Discom was the first step. “The present administration was a ‘Modi-Revanth partnership’ government,” he claimed.Referring to BRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao, Mr. Rama Rao described him as the party’s ‘Trump card’ and said his image can’t be erased by Mr. Revanth Reddy despite his best efforts. “He can’t rule without taking Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao’s name day in day out.” Published - June 03, 2026 08:52 pm IST
