The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led alliance has allotted the Rajya Sabha seat from Tamil Nadu, for which a by-poll is scheduled to be held on June 18, to its alliance partner, the Indian National Congress.The situation for a by-poll arose following the resignation of AIADMK Rajya Sabha member CV Shanmugam. He quit the seat after getting elected from Mailam in the Assembly election held on April 23.Earlier on Wednesday, Congress Tamil Nadu Election In-Charge, Girish Chodankar, met CM Joseph Vijay in the Secretariat in Chennai. He requested the CM that the Rajya Sabha seat should be allocated to the Congress.Published on June 3, 2026
