Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday announced an ambitious plan to celebrate the 12th International Day of Yoga across the State.It is targeted to involve one crore people in the Yogandhra - 2026 events on June 21.Addressing the media in Amaravati, Mr. Naidu said yoga, a priceless gift from India to the world, emerged as an effective tool for physical fitness, mental well-being and holistic health.This year’s theme, ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’, aims to promote healthy living even in old age, the Chief Minister said.Mr. Naidu said that Yogandhra-2026 would be conducted from June 7 to 20 and that June had been declared as the ‘Yoga Month’.Special themesA major yoga demonstration involving 25,000 participants would be organised on the Krishna River West Bypass Bridge in Amaravati. Special district-level themes had also been identified, with programmes planned for groups such as police personnel in NTR district and farmers in Konaseema district.The government would organise yoga events at 56 prominent tourist destinations, including Undavalli Caves and Srisailam, to promote yoga tourism. A special budget of ₹10 crore was allocated for infrastructure, publicity and event management.The Chief Minister said the State aimed at creating 10 lakh certified yoga practitioners and increase the number of trainers to 2.5 lakh. Schools and colleges were also being encouraged to integrate yoga into daily learning.Flays remarks against PawanCondemning the remarks made by certain Telangana leaders against Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, the Chief Minister said that attempts to provoke regional divisions were inappropriate.
