Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandve has instructed officers of the department concerned to reach benefits extended by the various departments to persons with disabilities and ensure that grants reserved for schemes meant for them are properly used.He was chairing a review meeting of district-level officers in Yadgir on Wednesday.Mr. Pandve said that the Department for Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens and various other departments have schemes for the disabled. “Officers of those departments should reach benefits under such schemes to the beneficiaries properly,” he added.The Deputy Commissioner heard problems being faced by persons with disabilities narrated during the meeting by representatives of private organisations.He also instructed officials of Kalyan Karnataka Road Transport Corporation to ensure seats are strictly reserved in government-owned buses for persons with disabilities when the issue of the occupation of reserved seats by others was raised.Mr. Pandve promised physiotherapy treatment for persons with disabilities suffering from spinal cord problems and also medical tests for those who are suffering from hearing problems. He instructed the officers concerned to attend to any issues, including pensions, immediately.Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat Lavish Ordia and others were present.
