The event, which was hosted by the King as patron of Cancer Research, marked the charity's 125th anniversary and saw the royals meet researchers, clinicians, volunteers and partners involved in Cancer Research UK's prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. On Tuesday morning, Kensington Palace announced that Kate would be joining her father-in-law for the important event.As she mingled with attendees, Kate spoke with Irish pop star Ronan Keating and his wife Storm about her own cancer journey, when she made a sweet comment about her husband Prince William, who was not present at the event.Ronan could be overheard saying to Kate: "Please say hi to William". His wife, Storm Keating, added "he's such a gent", before Ronan said: "Yeah we love him".The royal mother-of-three, who was wearing a red heart-print dress made them both laugh when she replied: "So do I!"In April, William and Kate celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary, after marrying in a fairytale ceremony at Westminster Abbey on April 29 2011, and welcoming their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis.During the reception at St James’ Palace, Kate, Camilla and Charles were shown immersive installations that showcased the work of Cancer Research UK. They were also joined by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.Both Charles and Kate were diagnosed with undisclosed types of cancer in 2024. Kate underwent chemotherapy and announced in January last year that she was in remission.She previously spoke about her experience in a World Cancer Day message in February and described the emotional impact of her illness. She said a cancer journey can involve "moments of fear and exhaustion" as well as periods of strength and recovery.Kate has slowly eased back into royal duties since she announced her remission. She recently carried out her first overseas royal visit since facing cancer and headed over to Italy for a solo working trip as part of her early years work.Cancer Research UK is credited with making major strides in survival rates over the decades with the charity itself noting survival has doubled in the country over the past 50 years.
